Decarb Without Oven: How to Decarb Weed In The Right Way?

Cannabis plants have been widely used for centuries for both medicinal and recreational purposes. While many people have long been attached to the cannabis plant, or cannabis products, many others. are still beginning to get acquainted with this particular plant.

Cannabis contains two main compounds known as cannabinoids – tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol. Cannabinoids – tetrahydrocannabinol is a psychoactive compound that leads to high, while cannabidiol is not mind-altering.

However, if you want cannabis to have the desired effect, or rather, be valuable, you need to decarb it. Extraction of bioactive compounds such as THC and CBD from cannabis can be done with different techniques.

And below we will guide you how to properly decarb weed, and show you how to decarb without oven in the simplest way.

How to Decarb Weed Properly?

While you can buy cannabis from a local dispensary and cannabis stores in countries and states where marijuana is legal, you can completely decarb cannabis yourself at home.

Decarb cannabis at home will bring certain joys and pleasures. To properly decarb cannabis, follow these steps.

Step 1: Decarboxylation

In its raw form, cannabis contains tetrahydro cannabinolic acid and cannabidiolic acid. It’s the inactive version of the Cannabinoids – tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol. So you need to activate them before using.

When these compounds are heated, they undergo decarboxylation, also known as decarbing. These substances then become the active compounds Cannabinoids – tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol.

To activate the Cannabinoids – tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol, you need to preheat your oven to 240 degrees F (115 degrees C). Place marijuana on a baking sheet, spreading the cannabis in a thin layer. Then bake for about 30 to 40 minutes.

Baking time will depend on the freshness of the cannabis. For fresh cannabis, you need to roast them for up to 1 hour. But if the cannabis is older, drier, shorten the cooking time to about 20 minutes.

Remember to stir the cannabis every 10 minutes so that they are exposed to even heat, and to prevent burning. Cannabis will turn from light green to dark green, when it is decarboxylated.

Note, make sure your oven does not exceed 240 degrees F. If the temperature exceeds this, it can destroy important oil compounds called terpenes. They are the compounds responsible for the smell, taste, and medicinal effects of cannabis.

If you don’t have an oven, you can use a microwave or a cooking pan on the stove. The process is the same, and no matter what tool you use, always make sure to maintain the right temperature. Always observe to promptly handle incidents.

Step 2: Processing weed

After activating marijuana, you need to process it to be able to use it. This step will make it possible to turn the cannabis into edible.

The ingredients for making weed are very simple. All you need is 500 ml of water, about 8 ounces of butter, a cooking pot with a lid, 2 pieces of cheese, and a container.

First, you need to boil water and butter over low heat. Once the water is boiling and the butter has melted, stir the mixture well and add the weed activated in the previous step to the pot. Cover and continue to cook it over low heat for 3 to 4 hours.

To avoid burning the mixture, stir every 20 minutes. Keep doing this until the mixture becomes thicker and more glossy. Then, place two layers of cheesecloth over the glass bowl or container and secure them to filter the mixture. Pour the cooked mixture over the cheesecloth to let the liquid run through.

After filtering the mixture, cool it to room temperature. Be careful not to touch the mixture when cooling, the mixture needs to cool completely before placing it in the refrigerator. Place the mixture in the refrigerator until the water and butter have completely mixed. Once there, you will see a very thick raised layer. That’s what you need to collect.

Once placed in the refrigerator, that butter and the head of the cannabis will solidify on the surface of the water. At this point, carefully remove the layer of the mixture and place it in the container. You can keep this fruit in the freezer for up to 6 months.

This resulting mixture can be used in almost any recipe. You should adjust the dose of marijuana to suit your condition and health to avoid overconsumption.

Does using Decarb Weed cause Side Effects?

Unlike smoking or vaping, finding an appropriate dosage for edible cannabis products can be difficult due to varying concentrations of Cannabinoids – tetrahydrocannabinol.

So it may take longer to see if edible cannabis is causing your body’s side effects.

If present, common side effects include dry mouth, drowsiness, paranoia, impaired motor control, and altered senses. You may also experience hallucinations, delusions, or even psychosis.
